Shajing is pretty much pure industrial, you have only workers and more workers. There is nothign really pretty about that town, expecialy the crime rate. My girlfriend has recently been a victim to the famous Shajing motorcycle robbers, losing her purse, phone and ID cards. Nevertheless I feel pretty save, as I am a pretty big guy.
I am planning a drive to Central China for New Year, and several people told me to make sure I have some type of weapon in the car in case of bandits. (very funny to be warned about bandits for a western guy, we only have seen them in movies of the wild west). Anyway, I wanted to know what the actual law is concerning carrying weapons. I know that firearms are forbitten, but what about knifes, billclubs or such. Is there some rule as to what type of knife, example blade no longer then 10 cm, or other. Considering that every Chinese bad guy knows that most Lao Wai's have more valuable items on them then the average chinese, it may be a good idea to be prepared, but I do not want to break the law doing it.

Any advise?

SOURCEAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
