Conan, a chihuahua, two-year-old male with long, black hair and a brown collar, join the buddhists who clasp their palms together to pray for enlightenment.
The dog has become a popular attraction at a Japanese temple after learning to imitate the worshippers around him. Joei Yoshikuni, a priest at Jigenin temple on the southern island of Okinawa marvelled that Conan started to pose in prayer like us whenever he wanted treats . He may be showing his thanks for treats and walks in which
clasping hands is a basic action of Buddhist prayer to show appreciation. WhenJoei Yoshikunit starts chanting and raises his clasped hands, Conan also raises his paws and joins them at the tip of his nose. "He gets angry when somebody else sits on his favourite spot. He must be thinking that it's his special place," Oshiro said. Visitors to the temple look on with curiosity

Pet Carp knows his name

A Chinese man is looking for a good home for his pet carp which he says is fully trained. Fang Peng, from Pingsai town, Guizhou Province, claims 'Submarine' responds to his name being called out. Fang runs a fishing pond and his family have been training the carp for six years, reports the Guizhou City Papers. He said: "He is very smart, and never takes the bait of anglers."Fang says the fish developed his ability to understand human speech from his father who used to spend four hours a day with him. Fang added: "He would tie a piece of cake or bread on the top of the fishing pole and call 'Submarine'."On hearing his name, Submarine would emerge from the water and take the food. Or I would feed him by hand." Fang needs to find a new home for Submarine as the river which runs into his fishing pond has been diverted for irrigation.

A woman was asked for proof of age when buying alcohol at her local supermarket. Sarah Burge says she had to show a cashier her driving licence to buy 4 bottles of red wine at Tesco in St Neots, Cambridgeshire. Sarah is a 46-year-old mum-of-three. Mrs Burge has had more than £180,000 worth of cosmetic surgery and has been called The Real Life Barbie, reports Sky News. According to Sarah the woman cashier, whom she felt must have been about 8-years older than her, said, "I assume you are over 18 in order to purchase this wine?" When she replied that she was in fact 46, she said the cashier looked a bit shocked and looked at her as if to say, "Don't be so cheeky." So she then showed her her driving license. The cashier apologized and said that she had to do her job." A Tesco spokesman (no age supplied) said that they were “delighted” that Sarah enjoyed being ID'd at Tesco, saying they have strict procedures in place for the sale of alcohol. Anyone who looks under 21 will be asked to provide proof of age.

Curry Laksa
Ingredients:
Fried Torfu
Chicken Stock
250 gms yellow noodles or Spaghetti
4 tbsps oil
3 shallots — sliced
1 cm piece ginger
1 fresh red chilli
1 fresh green chilli
50 gms dried shrimps
150 gms prawns — shelled and deveined
100 gms fresh-COCKLES or Oysters - (Alternative: boiled Chicken pieces[Debone])
100 gms fish balls or Fish fillets(Cornflour fried)
4 cups thick coconut milk — from 1 coconut (Alternative: Evaporated unsweetened Milk)
100 gms beansprouts
2 tbsps curry powder
1 bunch kesum leaves (Vietnamese coriander)
2 boiled Eggs
lettuce or spring onion (optional)
Salt to taste
Serves 4 — 6
Method:
1. Scald the noodles in hot boiling water. Drain well and
spread 1 tbsp olive oil evenly into the noodles.
2. Heat 3 tbsps oil and fry the shallots and ginger
until fragrant. Add in curry powder and fry
further until fragrant.
3. Add the ginger, pounded (or Minced [ suggest use blender]) dried shrimps and chillies. Stir-fry for 3 minutes.
4. Add the coconut milk and bring to boil and chicken stock.
5. Add the fried Torfu, fish balls or Fish fillets, Prawns, COCKLES or Oysters and season to taste.( Do not overcook Prawns, COCKLES or Oysters )
6. Lastly add the kesum leaves(Vietnamese coriander) , boiled eggs (in halves) and beansprouts. (plus optional lettuce or spring onion)
7. To serve, place the noodles in individual bowls
and pour over the gravy making sure that each
bowl will contain the COCKLES or Oysters , prawns and.
fish balls or Fish fillets plus one-half boiled egg.
